Students on show

The student exhibition intends to expose young talent to the creatives attending the awards. It's an outreach initiative by Adobe Systems and provides 40 of the best young Loerie entrants with a platform for expression but also self-promotion.

"We've been part of the Loeries for three years and wanted to provide young creatives with a platform to showcase their talent and creativity to industry and potential employers," says Grant O'Connor, regional manager at Adobe Systems Sub Saharan Africa.

"It's in the same vein that we are involved with education initiatives for budding creatives such as the Adobe Design Achievers Awards and www.gocreate.co.za. We also support the education fraternity with discounted rates on the education, student and teacher editions of our software packages to make our technology more accessible."

The educational institutions represented are AAA Cape Town, Red & Yellow School Cape Town, North West University, Vega Cape Town, Vega Durban, AFDA Cape Town, Cape Peninsula University of Technology, Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, Stellenbosch Academy of Design & Photography and Tshwane University of Technology. Each of these institutions had student finalists for the 2010 Loeries and they each put forward a selection of their best students.

"We really enjoyed the Student Portfolio day in partnership with Adobe. We are proud to be associated with Adobe in this partnership that benefit up-and-coming creatives and the greater creative community," says Andrew Human, CEO of the Loeries Awards.
