EarthDance enthrals Mpumalanga

Earthdance, an international music and dance festival that aims to create awareness of the waning environment and preservation of the earth, premiered in Mpumalanga on Saturday 26 September 2009. The province joins the South African provinces of Gauteng, Western Cape, Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal and the other 500 locations in 80 countries in celebrating EarthDance.

MPowerFM, as the media partner, had presenters and staff join more than 400 people who came to Blue Moon in Nelspruit to watch fire dancers, drumming acts and entertainment from Napalma, No One's Arc, Synchromesh, Coolela Project, Latte Funk and more. Patrons were encouraged to bring along unwanted clothes, toys and books, which were donated, to two local orphanages, namely Betty's Haven and Masiba Mbane, along with 50% of the profits made

MPowerFM presenter, Dave Walters, was the opening MC on the day. “While there are big differences between the worlds of the progressive dance culture and radio, the principles of communal responsibility and environmental awareness; the principles underpinning the modern EarthDance movement, are principles very close to the basic operational ethic of MPowerFM. We're looking forward to a long partnership with EarthDance as we continue to jointly beat out The Rhythm of Mpumalanga.”

Other MPowerFM presenters that attend the event were David Watts and Sam Jagger of the Afternoon Drive Show, Grethe Maleta, Neil Gundry and Calvin Mlambo.
