Aimed at the LSM 9 - 10 consumer, Retreat magazine aims to tell readers about the best holiday spots in South Africa and surrounds, focusing on luxury, weekend and budget retreats; spas; venues for weddings, conferencing or team-building events; activities such as golfing, diving, and hiking; product reviews and other ideas to fill leisure time.
Following the same mass-media business model as TechSmart magazine, 100 000 copies of Retreat are printed and distributed monthly. It is currently available from stands in shopping centres around Gauteng or online at www.retreatmag.co.za.
“For our readers this is a great way to view marvellous vacation options to properly plan their time off, and for our advertisers a fantastic way to reach a new potential customer base,” says Grobler.
“We've had a lot of success with TechSmart as a ‘free to public' magazine, and thanks to the distribution network built up over the years with TechSmart, we are confident that the new title will reach the appropriate audience.”
Retreat is reportedly endorsed by BABASA, a guest accommodation association.
The first issue features road trips to the newly developed Dinokeng nature reserve just north of Pretoria, as well as to the Senqu region in the Eastern Cape. It also showcases various bush lodges in Limpopo, as well as a couple of spas in the Magalies.
