Energy efficient journalists make eta finals

Two staff members of 25° in Africa, Africa's independent energy publication, were recently nominated as finalists in the 2008 eta Awards, which promote the more efficient use of energy and aim to improve business competitiveness. Editor Marlene Raubenheimer and journalist Jody Boshoff both received news of making it to the final round in the Women in Industry category.

eta is the Greek symbol for efficiency, hence the name of the awards, which aim to reward the proven application of sound energy efficiency principles in the commercial, industrial, residential, agricultural and education sectors. The eta Awards is an annual event sponsored by Eskom, and has been running for the past 18 years. The awards are granted for exceptional effort in promoting the more efficient use of energy.

“This goes to show that 25° in Africa's visionary approach to media is one which the market is now appreciating in terms of its relevance and vitally important role in shaping our energy future,” commented Raubenheimer.

Boshoff added, “It is gratifying to stop and realise that the consequences of what we do are both far-reaching and far more incisive and influential than we have ever estimated.”

25° in Africa is a quarterly publication dedicated to comprehensive coverage and meaningful reportage on all forms of energy and related environmental impacts, technological developments and research. The magazine derives its name from the Standard Ambient Temperature (SAT) necessary for human comfort (25º), and addresses the consequences of maintaining this temperature through artificial means, facilitating an open forum discussion of related energy issues.

Winners will be presented at a gala awards ceremony on 21 November 2008. For more information, go to www.eta-awards.co.za.
