Eat more, get published

New Media is venturing into the world of consumer-generated content with the mid-year launch Eat Out People's Choice, edited by Eat Out editor Abigail Donnelly. The title will give a voice to restaurants' greatest critics – their patrons.
Eat more, get published

Says Donnelly, “My main aim is to uplift the culinary standards in South Africa by recognising our best chefs and to inspire the restaurant industry to do its very best. People's Choice gives the public the opportunity to be involved with this as well by allowing them to voice their opinion, good or bad, so the chefs and restaurateurs can aspire to improve.”

The 84-page magazine will be latest brand extension to Eat Out magazine, and its online sister, www.eatout.co.za, and will be available from mid-July with the August 2008 issue of Woolworths Taste magazine.

The restaurant-going public will have the chance to vote for their favourite restaurants – whether it's a rough-around-the-edges pub with the best steak and chips, a chic deli with the tastiest salads in town, or the most delightful French bistro that makes a soufflé to die for.

New Media Digital has launched a People's Choice hub on www.eatout.co.za, encouraging restaurant-goers to vote within fifteen categories. Contributors will then have to wait to see whether their names appear in the magazine. Voting is open February – March. Once the votes have been collated, the Eat Out People's Choice Top 10 will be announced.
