Kaya FM to launch Afropolitan mag
The Afropolitan will profile the faces, the happenings and the places of hip, young, upwardly and outwardly mobile South Africa. It will be loaded with information, controversy and variety, as well as substantial news, business and commercial features and sport and lifestyle.
The Afropolitan aims to mirror the lives of the 25 year old and up - the young, mostly black urbanites who are into the market wrap and good restaurants, who train at the gym and love cricket and soccer, who listen to jazz and go to movies and malls and casinos.
These Black Diamonds - statistically the majority of Kaya FM's listenership - are brand-conscious and ambitious and sophisticated, but not so highbrow that they aren't streetwise, not so personally goal-driven that they don't have a sense of community, and not so urban that they don't have a strong awareness of their African heritage.
The Afropolitan will initially go out to Kaya listeners and the Kaya connected database, but a limited number of copies will also be available on the newsstands.
According to the publishers, the first issue is coming soon.
