This year's edition of Front Cover, published by New Media on behalf of Media24 Magazines, showcases 24 reasons to fall in love with magazines. The trade publication aims to create positive perceptions about magazines and the power of the medium.
Celebrating the power of magazines

Edited by Ami Kapilvech, Front Cover is a marketing tool for the magazine industry with a print run of 3500. Its intention is to show marketers why they should use magazines as a medium to advertise and why magazines deliver more than any other media. It also addresses the challenges and issues facing publishers and advertisers.

According to Patricia Scholtemeyer, CEO of Media24 Magazines, Front Cover is "special because it is published once a year only, special because it is tailor-made for marketers and special because it truly captures the imagination of everyone who reads it."

This year the theme is "24 reasons to fall in love with magazines". It could be the touch and feel of the paper, the promise on the cover, the depth of information or the sometimes voyeuristic qualities magazines offer.

All contributors to Front Cover are leading role players in their respective fields. Their views and personal insights not only reflect but also shape magazines' past, present and future.

Front Cover launched in 2003 as Cover magazine. That year, it scooped Pica Awards for Excellence in Magazine Design, and Best Commemorative Issue for Business-to-Business, and was Highly Commended in the 2003 Philip Tyler Trophy: Award for Innovation and Magazine Publishing. Cover also won 2003 South African Publishing Forum Awards for Best External Magazine, Best Corporate Publication, Design Excellence and Writing Excellence. In 2005 it won a Pica for Best Annual.
