But it will all be worth it as the regional winner will receive a three-year "Ticket to Life" study bursary in Hospitality Management or Professional Cookery from the International Hotel School, valued at R180,000.
The fifth consecutive year it has been held at the Peninsula, this annual competition is a highlight of the International Hotel School's calendar and is hosted by hotels in Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town and the school provides "Ticket To Life" bursaries to all three regional winners.
"Boot Camp is an uplifting initiative that is an investment in the future of not only the South African tourism industry, but also in shaping the future success of The Peninsula Hotel," says Peninsula general manager Chris Godenir.
The completion of tasks will be judged by an experienced panel of judges presided over by Chris Godenir who not only has over 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry but a number of accolades to his name (including being named the Three Cities Group "Soul Man" and awards for "Industry Contribution").
Each day's challenges between now and 12 July will cover a nine hour period and, on the fifth day, students will be required to undergo a daunting panel interview with several industry players where their motivation for entering the hospitality industry will be questioned.
"I believe working with these young people is a great opportunity for them to enter the hospitality industry at a management level, encouraging them to fulfil their dreams and live up to their full potential," adds Chris Godenir.
