Love Cape Town Neighbourhood Series launched
Cape Town Tourism (CTT) has launched the Love Cape Town Neighbourhood Series, a collection of videos intimately revealing three of the city's suburbs.
The videos are a direct response to the "Travel like a Local" trend; visitors want to experience the places they travel in ways that expose them to the quirky and interesting features enjoyed by locals.
Showcasing local hidden gems around the city, the areas highlighted in these videos (so far) are vibrant Woodstock with its eclectic blend of old and ultra-modern Cape Town, the cosmopolitan heart of the Cape Town Central Business District CBD and the beautiful coastal suburb with the feel of a fishing village, Kalk Bay - Cape Town destinations which will add value to any trip.
Celebrity chef Karen Dudley, local comedian/presenter Siv Ngesi and home-grown musician Arno Carstens take you on a guided visual tour of their 'hoods.
According to Cape Town Tourism CEO Enver Duminy, CTT is responding to this trend by releasing online multiple Neighbourhood Guides to areas around the Mother City. "We understand that we're appealing to the main target audience, but also that with this new trend we can actively spread the positive affect of tourism," he says.
"Being exposed directly to travellers allows local businesses, especially the smaller ones, to be showcased on a global platform", Enver continues, "This will also allow for a direct injection of funds into areas beyond the traditional tourist routes or sites.
