#FutureMusic Rising winner to perform in London

In the fourth and final round of the British Council Connect ZA and Live SA #FutureMusic series, upcoming South African music talent will get the chance to perform in a special weekend of performances that will lead to one act being chosen to perform at the Roundhouse Rising Festival in London in February 2014.

The hunt is on for emerging SA bands, producers and performers to put themselves forward for consideration to a judging panel of experts.

Six acts will be shortlisted to perform in either Cape Town or Johannesburg at the Connect ZA and Live SA #FutureMusic events on 8 and 9 November, which is presented by the British Council and Live SA in association with Roundhouse (UK). The judging panel will then select the best of the best for the UK performance next year.

The judging panel will include representatives from the British Council Connect ZA, Roundhouse, Live Magazine and a music industry expert.

These acts will be curated into a special microsite and the judges will pick the six artists from the long list. The judging will be based on the video, audio and website links that nominees include in their online applications.

Acts must be bands or live performers - laptop producers are welcome, as long as there is a live performance and not just a DJ set - who would most benefit from the exposure of an international performance. Acts must be under the age of 35, and based in South Africa.

In keeping with Connect ZA's intent on finding the best of who is up-and-coming, you have to be exactly that... up-and-coming. So if you have nothing online, you're probably not up-and-coming enough - but you can't be too established either!

The eventual winner will be the one who rocks the crowd the best, and who the judges feel would most make a supercharged leap in their musical careers from getting this kind of international exposure.

Artists and managers can nominate an act online at www.livemag.co.za/futuremusicrising.
