New food fair moves to Hyde Park
Creator of the Joburg Art Fair, Artlogic, brings the Food Wine Design Fair to Hyde Park from 26-28 November 2010. Reportedly the first of its kind, it offers a market for buying and sampling the best of South African handmade, contemporary products.
To be held on the roof-top of the Hyde Park Corner Shopping Centre, Johannesburg, this 5050m² space, with remarkable views to the east and north, will be turned into something magical by tent structures, theatre lighting, specially designed and manufactured dining and selling areas and larger-than-life landscaping. The event will be land marked by a bright red two-seater aircraft, perched on the roof; the aircraft was designed and built by two South Africans.
To ensure the best, organisers have chosen three curators that are leaders in the fields of food, wine and design. It has partnered with the highly successful Neighbourgoods Market at the Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock, Neil Pendock, of Good Value Guru fame, has been chosen to curate the wine and spirits element and Julian and Trevyn McGowan of Source Design have been responsible for introducing South African design to international buyers like the Conran Shop (London) and Anthropology (New York). These design experts will select jewellers, ceramicists, furniture makers and fashion designers.
Some of the country's top chefs and wine producers will serve breakfast; lunch and dinner at the Fair.
