New interests at 2014 Good Food and Wine Shows

The annual Good Food and Wine Shows, which showcase the latest in global food trends and some of the world's best chefs and food personalities, have added new features to attract and entertain its visitors.
New interests at 2014 Good Food and Wine Shows

  • The Baking Village - here visitors can learn new techniques, watch demonstrations and buy everything they need to bake like the experts.
  • Seductive Nutrition - for those in the business of juicing, raw foods, organic or servicing the growing number of food intolerances.
  • Focus on children and food - with obesity in South Africa ranking one of the highest in the world, it is important to educate children on healthy eating and how to make it fun, using interactive gardening workshops, cooking, lunchbox assembling and smoothie creations.
  • Speciality foods - from artisan cheese makers to game dealers, and chocolate makers, the shows focus on artisan food products.

Show highlights

  • Gourmet Tourism - there is no better platform to highlight a destination, whether near or far, than through the food and cuisine of that country. Display delicacies, allow visitors to meet the chefs and then offer them an excellent package to visit the destination.
  • Regional Wine Tasting Tours - this has moved away from the traditional wine walk to a tasting tour. Join one's region and make a statement, as the show will be offering show visitors the opportunity to jump on board a tasting tour, displaying the best wines, restaurants, delis and eateries of a region.
  • Celebrity television cooking shows go live - giving the public the opportunity to meet contestants, judges and celebrities from their favourite television shows.
  • Masterclasses For MasterChef's & Master bloggers - hands- on cooking classes with world renowned local and international celebrity chefs, together with well-known bloggers. It is an opportunity to share their passion for cooking and skills around blogging, as well as Pinterest and Instagram, social media and social cooking.
  • Good Food Champions - entrants, who think they should be nominated as a Good Food Champion, should email az.oc.onalimareif@noipmahc with details including the size of their business; type of product; point of difference; provenance and what they are doing to improve the world we live (and eat) in.

The dates for the 2014 Good Food & Wine Shows are:

  • Cape Town 29 May - 1 June at the Cape Town International Convention Centre
  • Johannesburg 31 July - 3 August at the Coca Cola Dome
  • Durban 24 - 26 October at the Durban Exhibition Centre
