It's summer school time for youth marketers
Marketers, agency execs and brand managers are invited to attend HDI Youth Marketeers' Summer School, to be staged in Johannesburg on 17 and 18 September 2008, to find out how to really grab the attention of today's youth and take their brands from ho-hum to sizzlin'.
Hyper-consumption, choice over-load, mega promises and instant messaging all make young consumers hard to impress. Some brands, such as Coke, were hot in 1938 and remain so in 2008. Others, that were steaming six months ago, have already been replaced. But one thing that is becoming more and more the case is young South Africa's appetite for real. They love the truth: warts and all.
Really Real is at the top of the agenda for Summer School this year. The speaker lineup includes 5FM DJ Gareth Cliff; Levi Strauss SA marketing director Debbie Gebhardt; recent Loeries Grand Prix Winner, Trigger's Gavin Rooke and HDI Youth Marketeers' MD Jason Levin. They will tackle this issue head on and offer their first-hand experiences of what it takes to make a real connection with the forever-evolving youth market.
Other Summer School attractions include youth panel discussions, case study presentations, product demos and cool interactive exercises.
