A selection of handmade items, made by the Western Cape's leading craft producers and designer makers, will be on display at the centre court stage of the Canal Walk shopping centre from 27 September to 10 October. The Cape Craft and Design Institute (CCDI) has selected items from its CCDI Handmade Collection for 2010, which features the work of 82 leading craft producers. These will be complemented by images of smaller items from the collection, such as jewellery and accessories.

"This is an ideal opportunity to view the works, which have already attracted local and international attention at events such as the Design Indaba Expo, and the Cape Creative Exhibition in Green Point during the soccer mega-event," said Marjorie Naidoo, the CCDI's communications and sector promotion programme manager.
Artists whose work has been selected for the exhibition include ceramicists Andile Dyalvane and Hennie Meyer, wood turners Thys Carstens and Bert Parker, sculptor Godfrey Chimhanzi, wood carver Daan Samuels, and metalsmiths and metal worker David Clark-Brown.
The week will culminate in the annual Loerie Awards.
