DaimlerChrysler South Africa (DCSA), has recently partnered up with its outsourced caterer, Kagiso Khulani Supervision Food Services (KKS), a specialist operating division of Compass Group SA, to introduce a new healthy eating brand, Sprout, to its employees at its East London plant.

"Sprout is in fact the first real health brand within Compass SA and brings with it a fresh appeal to the customer, with crisp design features that give it a healthy look and feel," says Mark Holgate, managing director: KKS healthcare and education. "The Sprout brand is a wellness option that promotes high fibre, low fat options that are also varied and delicious."

The offering includes fresh vegetables and fruit, lean meats, poultry and fish, as well as healthy fats in moderation - providing employees with the option to choose foods that meet their individual dietary needs.

A team of KKS nutritionists and dieticians carefully researched the brand for 18 months before it was launched to DCSA employees earlier this month, and in doing so, they debunked the myth that a healthy diet is difficult to follow. Ordering is also easier for the car-maker's employees… they can view the Sprout menu on the DCSA intranet and order food from their desks – and it arrives on a Sprout-branded golf cart to the employee within 30 minutes.
