CIDA students available for internships
Employers need cover only the cost of transport and meals, estimated at around R150 a week and any additional remuneration is at the discretion of the employer.
The Personnel Concept, South Africa's leading specialist recruitment company is assisting with the placement of these students in internships, through a joint venture with CIDA City Campus called The Personnel Concept @ CIDA.
According to Craig Du Bruyn, chief operating officer of the Personnel Concept, "We understand the pressure that organisations are under to acquire and develop affirmative action staff. We see these internships as win-win because companies can try out students and find the ones they really want and reduce the risk associated with taking on a new staff member who does not have the necessary skills, aptitude or culture fit.
"Organisations are under no obligation to offer candidates permanent posts. We see it is an opportunity to provide students with temporary assignments, which will hopefully turn into long-term careers."
Taddy Blecher, chief executive of CIDA City Campus, commented that, "An internship programme was instituted last year and feedback from the market was outstanding. Employers commented on the exceptional attitude of these students and their tremendous willingness to assist and learn."
The Personnel Concept has initiated this venture, primarily as a means of corporate social investment and will use this as a forum to reinvest, their intellectual capital acquired over 23 years as leaders in the industry, back into historically disadvantaged South Africans.
CIDA City Campus is South Africa's first virtually free tertiary institution. All students are from financially disadvantaged backgrounds and have tremendous potential but not the financial means for tertiary education.
