The iPad 2 is a complete redesign, being 33% thinner and 15% lighter than its predecessor and features a Dual-Core A5 processor which means better multitasking, faster application load time and higher application performance. Graphics performance is up to nine times faster. It has two cameras - a front-facing camera, which allows for video calls using FaceTime and a rear-facing camera that shoots HD-quality movies.
It will be available in both black and white, starting with the 16GB WIFI-only model at R4399, the 32GB WIFI-only model at R5399 and 64GB WIFI-only model at R6399. The range is completed by the 3G models which start with the 16GB WIFI+3G model at R5599, 32GB WIFI+3G model at R6599 and the 64GB WIFI+3G model at R7599.
As DionWired GM Andrew Jackson explains, "For us, this is probably the consumer electronics event of the year. It's effectively a whole new mobile device."
