Upgraded iPhone 3GS re-released in SA
The iPhone 3GS features a number of upgrades Apple fans have been yearning for since its first release in 2008.
The main improvement concerns the speed of the processor — the new “S” in the name stands for Speed — and Apple claims the 3GS is twice as fast as the 3G, making it far more responsive in running resource heavy applications.
The improved processor and additional RAM also means that the 3GS can run multiple applications at the same time, which puts it on par with rival handsets such as the Palm Pre.
The 3GS also features an upgraded 3mega-pixel camera with video recording, auto-focus and tools for trimming video clips before uploading to a web service.
But perhaps the most exciting upgrade is the addition of a digital compass, or magnetometer. This has multiple cool uses with third-party applications such as mapping and navigation services.
Current iPhone 3GS owners may not be racing to upgrade to the 3GS, but now is the time if you have ever considered purchasing an iPhone.
