Talk is cheap!

In a country where the cost of calling clients, friends and family is high, a Cape Town-based company has developed software that they claim makes the cost of cell phone calls a great deal cheaper.
Talk is cheap!

South Africans are jumping onto their mobile phones to join the global chat revolution, as international communications firm, Yeigo (pronounced Yey-Go), recently launched an innovative software product for mobile phones that is seeing consumers connecting with friends, family and business colleagues, anywhere in the world and at rates that are provoking a lot of talk!

While the trend for universal online relationships continues to grow and gain popularity, the spoken word cannot be replaced by e-mail or a broken, often distorted line affixed to static computers/laptops. This regular need for verbal communication, prompted the Cape Town-based company to develop its own unique software that is easily integrated into a wide variety of cell phone handsets.

Whether sitting on the beach in Tahiti, enjoying the benefits of a wine farm in Stellenbosch or, nose to the grind in London, Yeigo is claimed to facilitate true global connectivity, through the use of your phone's internet connection, transmitting calls and messages at a fraction of the cost of normal cell phone and fixed line rates.

How it works

When using the software, you are only paying for the internet connection and the data used during the call – instead of being charged per minute/second or per SMS. Calls can be made via Yeigo to anywhere in the world, whether your cell phone has been internationally enabled or not and savings can easily be up to 90%.

The versatility and advancement of the independently designed software, even eradicates the need for a SIM card when connecting in a Wi-Fi zone, making this a very attractive as well as vital accessory for today's globe-trotting community.

Created by a team of UCT graduates, the software that allows you free calls and text messages can be downloaded via the company's website. Calls between the company's community members are free, and when users need to engage with non-Yeigo members, Yeigo community credits can be purchased using any recognised credit card - purchasing these credits still render your calls cheaper than normal cellphone provider rates.

The software also allows users the freedom to communicate, across platforms, with users of GoogleTalk, MSN, AIM, ICQ, Yahoo! and Jabber - facilitating the conversation further.

The software's creator, Wilter Du Toit says “With Yeigo, we, the consumers, have the freedom to speak and connect, with whomever, wherever and whenever, we choose and for however long we want, without looming exorbitant cell phone bills.”

Du Toit summed it up with the following comment “the more people who join our community, the more opportunities there will be to open communication channels to greater numbers of people across all income groups to continue people connecting with each other to keep talk cheap!”

Yeigo is freely available for download at http://www.yeigo.com, or simply text/sms “Yeigo” to 32010 (ZA only, R1.00/sms).
