Get creative in managing your supply chain

The SAPICS (The Association for Operations Management of Southern Africa) Summer Conferences will take place in October 2009 in Durban and Cape Town, and are aimed at helping supply chain and operations professionals to thrive in these tough economic times.

“Effective Supply Chains for Critical Times” is the theme of the regional conferences that SAPICS will host in Durban on 27 October and in Cape Town on 29 October.

Delegates can expect an array of educational presentations, case studies and idea-exchange sessions. The conferences also offer a networking opportunity for supply chain and operations professionals.

Impact of the economic crunch

Reuben Badana, president of SAPICS said: “The economic crunch has had a tremendous impact on company budgets. It's at times like this that our profession needs to take a different approach. We need to get creative in managing our supply chains in order to get the most out of them. The presentations to be made at our Summer Conferences will equip delegates with the skills and knowledge to stay on top, despite the global economic crisis.

“For those whose budgets may not have allowed them to attend the annual SAPICS Conference at Sun City in July, our regional conferences also offer a great chance for them to get a taste of what has made the SAPICS Conference and Exhibition Africa's leading education and networking event for the supply chain profession.”

The regional conferences

SAPICS's one-day regional conferences - at the Riverside Hotel in Durban and Spier wine estate in Stellenbosh - are claimed to offer excellent value for money, as well as high-quality presentations and speakers. This year marks the first regional event in Durban, following the success of SAPICS's first Summer Conference in Cape Town last year.
