Sylvia Walker details how to plan one's way out of debt and into success. Her focus will be on advice for the many of us who work from home and typically plan than next decades poorly.
Sylvia Walker has worked in the financial services industry for many years, since graduating from UCT in the late 1980's. Her passion is to empower people financially by focussing on money and the various roles it plays in our lives, and she believes that each person can create their own futures, by taking charge of their finances today. She believes that knowledge is power, and financial freedom is every person's right.
In demystifying complex financial issues, Sylvia has worked with a number of media partners over the years to achieve this - O, the Oprah magazine, Sarie, Fair Lady, Femina, Cape Talk, Heart 104.5fm, and currently Good Housekeeping / Goeie Huishouding.
She has been a regular speaker for the past few years at the Old Mutual O, the Oprah Magazine "Find Your Balance" Workshops, and appeals to a wide audience with her down-to-earth, practical way of approaching complex financial issues.
She is also an author, and her first book, Dealing in Death, was published in November 2009. Her second book, Steeped in Blood, the life story of Dr David Klatzow, forensic scientist, was published in October 2010, and was shortlisted for the Sunday Times Alan Paton Award 2011. Her third book is in the pipeline.
