Citigate cradles Cotlands

Citigate Johannesburg has given the Cotlands waiting room a face-lift, transforming it into a warmer and friendlier space. Dubbed the Cotlands Cradle, the room connects the charity's facilities through several interleading doors at its premises in Turffontein, south of Johannesburg.

Citigate Johannesburg adopted Cotlands as its social responsibility project about five years ago and has done pro bono design and copywriting work for the charity's annual reports, brochures, advertisements and stationery.

Citigate initiated the idea of using an area of Cotlands as a 'brag room' to enable the charity to highlight its proud 67-year history. Named the Cradle, the room showcases the organisation's operations and houses memorabilia dating back to 1936 when the non-governmental organisation first opened its doors to infants and small children.

Citigate's Johannesburg staffers dedicated their spare time to paint and decorate the Cradle.

Cotlands, which currently has full capacity of 61 children in its care, has played a pioneering role in the care of HIV/AIDS-affected children. Today the organisation houses a sanctuary, nursery school, day care centre, and hospice. In addition, it runs a charity shop, home-based care programmes and community outreach and training projects.
