Prestigious honour for SA producer

South African television company Penguin Films' Roberta Durrant, the prolific producer of long running local series "'Sgudi 'Snaysi", "Khululeka", "Going Up" and "Future Imperfect", has been asked to serve as the president of the sitcom jury at the 42nd Rose d'Or Festival in Montreux, Switzerland.

The Rose d'Or festival is an annual event that attracts over 1000 delegates from all over the world to celebrate the best in international entertainment television programming. Durrant, along with a South African delegation from Penguin Films, was already scheduled to attend the festival where e-tv's hit local sitcom, "Madam & Eve", is in competition for the prestigious Rose d'Or award.

Durrant has previously served as a juror at Montreux, but is the first South African to be honoured with the responsibility of presiding over a jury. She will serve with acclaimed producer Peter Bennet-Jones of Tiger Aspect Pictures, who will chair the Grand Jury. Tiger Aspect is responsible for popular British series "Mr. Bean", "The Vicar of Dibley", "The Thin Blue Line" and more recently the features, "Bean" and "Billy Elliot".
