Running on cloud nine
The Asics Gel-Nimbus 9 has been selected as the Editors' Choice shoe in a recent review done by gear editors, Lisa de Speville and Sean Falconer in the October issue of Runner's World magazine.
The ninth generation model of the Nimbus, which is the top of the range shoe from Asics for runners with a neutral foot, features a slight reduction in weight, bigger Gel cushioning pads, and better shock dispersion and heel-to-toe transition. This makes it the winning choice out of the 22 shoes reviewed in the magazine's Spring Shoe Buyer's Guide.
Says Sean Falconer, online editor of www.runnersworld.co.za, “Wearing the correct shoe is essential for running and with so many shoes to choose from, we hope this review will really help our readers make the right choice. We believe that there is no single best running shoe for every runner, as every foot is different, but we select an Editors' Choice shoe if it really stands out for us.”
The shoes were judged according to technological updates from the previous year's models, with the editors looking for modifications that improved the weight, comfort, endurance and style of the shoes.
Two other shoes also caught the editors' eye, the Nike Air Zoom Vomero2+ and the New Balance 1223, which jointly won the Best Update award. The Vomero is also for runners with a neutral foot while the 1223 offers a more stable ride for feet that over-pronate (over-rotate inwards).
More information on these running shoes and shoe selection tips can be found in the October edition of Runner's World magazine.
