Groote Post releases four new wines to celebrate the decade

To celebrate its decade of winemaking, Groote Post, a Cape West Coast wine farm near Darling, is releasing four new wines. Winemaker, Lukas Wentzel says of the 2009 harvest, “This vintage has produced some of the best white wines we've ever made and the reds are showing very nicely too.”

Debbie McLaughlin, chef at Hilda's Kitchen on the farm has suggested the following food pairings for the four new releases.

  • Sauvignon Blanc 2009 (RSP: ±R68) - Calamari, fennel and lime salad
  • Chenin Blanc 2009 (RSP: ±R47) - Caramelised red onion tart with Pecorino cream
  • Unwooded Chardonnay 2009 (RSP: ±R70) - Sweet potato galette with goat's cheese and pumpkin seeds
  • Shiraz 2008 (±R93) - Braised oxtail with butternut, cinnamon and shiraz, on creamy polenta

Honouring a decade with more wine

There'll be no party to celebrate this anniversary. The Groote Post team will quietly be getting on with what they do best - making good wine. Co-owner, Nick Pentz, says, “While it's comforting to reflect on our first decade in the wine business with a sense of satisfaction and achievement, ten years is a nano-second in wine's time line. We remain sharply focussed on continually tweaking our offering so that we stay ahead of our many followers' tastes.”
