A taste of Islay? I'll say!

Here's something for whisky lovers who might like to share the gentle taste of Islay this festive season. The elegant and distinctive Bunnahabhain 25-year old is the perfect gift for those who appreciate the finer things in life.
A taste of Islay? I'll say!

This fine single malt from the Isle of Islay recently won gold and Best In Class at the prestigious 2008 International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) and is presented in a bespoke bottle housed in an alder wood box lined with hessian and closed with solid brass fittings.

A very recent addition to the South African market, Bunnahabhain hails from the world-renowned Isle of Islay on the west-coast of Scotland. Meaning 'mouth of the river' in Scottish Gaelic, it is pronounced Bu-na-ha-venn and refers to the Margadale River which flows close by. Unlike most of the other single malts from the Isle of Islay, this brand is known for its gentle taste profile and unique character, largely the result of malted barley enhanced by the pure spring water that flows freely underground, untainted by the peaty moorlands on this isolated coastal sanctuary.

The distillery produces three single malts - a 12-, 18- and 25-year-old, all crafted by master distiller Ian MacMillan, who has over 30 years' experience in whisky distilling.

Bunnahabhain 25-year-old retails for about R1 700 per 750ml bottle.
