New wine range encapsulates the vibrancy of Cape Town
Inspired by the city of Cape Town's vibrancy, the new Cape Portrait range from Durbanville Hills captures the sensorial melting pot of the city and its people.
Durbanville Hills which overlooks Table Mountain, Table Bay and the cityscape, embraced these very scenic views filled with the energy of Cape Town, in creating this cool climate range of vibrant blended wines.
Red winemaker Kobus Gerber, and white winemaker Wilhem Coetzee, say they are truly spoilt in being surrounded by the best views in the world.
“Daily we are reminded of the remarkable energy of Cape Town with its diverse culture, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of the people, the natural beauty and of course, the exquisite food. Even when the Cape Doctor is blowing (the infamous south-easterly wind), the energy is pulsing!”
“Even though the city is ever-evolving, it’s deeply rooted in culture with traditions handed down across the generations. It’s a place of inspiration, opportunity and variety. We wanted to embody this very melting pot in a wine that reminds us all of Cape Town’s unique DNA.”
The wine is Origin Cape Town, reflecting the unique sights, sounds and pulse of the city, as a tribute to everyone who calls this city home, and for everyone spending memorable holidays here.
The Cape Portrait Red 2020 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. The wine is soft and generous, exploding with red berry fruits hints of prune, cinnamon and black pepper. A delight to share with friends over casseroles, grilled chicken, lamb chops and berry infused ice-cream.
A blend of Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc the Cape Portrait White 2021 is fresh with a crisp acidity, bursting with lime, citrus, and tropical fruit. It’s best served with relaxed dining such as barbecued chicken, summer salads, plain grilled fish and pan-fried calamari, perfectly partnering to the South African outdoor summer lifestyle.
Available in both 750ml bottles and 2L slimline bag-in-box packaging options, the label design depicts the vibrancy of the city. The illustrated artwork takes one on a visual journey throughout Cape Town – the significant landmarks such as Muizenberg beach huts and the Bo-Kaap, cultural festivals, theatre and music, activities such as running along the Seapoint promenade, Cape Town’s lively social scene, and then of course, the natural beauty of Cape Town’s fauna, flora and Table Mountain. Collectively all these places, people, beauty and experiences portray the essence of Cape Town.
The wine range reminds us all that no matter your relationship with Cape Town – whether you live here, did so once or only visit on occasion, the city truly connects us all.
Share the sense of Cape Town’s flavour, no matter where you are, by purchasing the Cape Town range from leading liquor outlets, nationwide, and online from www.durbanvillehills.co.za.
