#FreshOnTheShelf: Roodeberg Rosé, Lancewood sauces, Almost Zero 'wine' and new NuSeed packs

In #FreshOnTheShelf, we round up some of our favourite food and beverage products that have hit the shelves recently.

Lancewood Sauce Delight

Cheese and dairy product company Lancewood has just launched a range of dairy-based sauces designed to enhance meals. Made from "real cream and real ingredients", the sauces come in three different flavours: Mushroom, Cheese and Pepper.

Sauce Delight can be found in the supermarket fridge in a 250ml re-sealable, microwavable cup. Simply heat the sauce in the microwave for two minutes and then pour onto your meals to give them the edge.

Van Loveren's Almost Zero

Robertson-based family-owned wine farm Van Loveren has released Almost Zero, a new lower-kilojoule summer drink with close to no alcohol. The beverage is crafted from Sauvignon Blanc wine with the alcohol removed, making it ideal for those who enjoy sipping on some vino but would prefer to forgo the after-effects.

Almost Zero has less than 0.5% alcohol – the same as the alcohol-free beers on the market. It also has 75% fewer kilojoules than a normal glass of wine. On the palate, the drink reveals flavours of apple, litchi and a little citrus. It's best served chilled and can be enjoyed by itself or paired with summer fare like seafood and salads.

Almost Zero sells for R65 and will soon be available in retail stores countrywide.

Refreshing Roodeberg Rosé

Roodeberg's new Rosé is an aromatic blend of classic red wine varieties and the refreshing new varient has arrived just in time for summer. It's salmon-pink in colour and delivers subtle aromas of watermelon, litchi and raspberry with hints of rose petal and Turkish delight. Roodeberg says its acidity and fruity finish makes it a good food wine on hot days.

“The wine is complex enough to enjoy with rich dishes such as smoked salmon or sushi that complement the fruitiness. It’s great for a hot summer’s day and a Rosé that is definitely not strictly girls only,” says winemaker Louwritz Louw.

Roodeberg Rosé is available at Pick n Pay stores countrywide or online at a cellar door price of R85 per bottle.
