Balfour Park gets face-lift
The Balfour Park shopping centre in Highlands North is undergoing a huge R120m refurbishment to completely rejuvenate the 22-year-old centre.
Work on the 36,000m² centre began in January and should be completed early next year.
Ronnie Sevitz, director of Investec Property, which is undertaking the refurbishment, says the cinema at the centre moved out a year ago and that the area where it was situated will become an up-market banking court.
The centre is also being re-tiled and new ceilings are being put in place, as well as a generator to deal with electricity cuts.
“We are also moving tenants around to create more space for new tenants,” says Sevitz.
He says the centre underwent a refurbishment more than five years ago.
The latest refurbishment aims to make the centre “more relevant. It's a convenience centre that needs to be brightened up and we are spending a lot of money on security in state of the art cameras and we will also be liaising with the local community protection agencies in that area,” says Sevitz.
Pep Stores will be coming on board as a new tenant and Jet Stores, Mr Price and Wimpy will be expanding their presence at Balfour Park.
