These include CNN.com/international and the CNN international mobile brand, together with numerous broadband services.

Based in Atlanta, Wrenn will report to Tony Maddox, executive VP and MD of CNN International, who said, “As we continue to grow and develop our digital assets, Nick's experience and leadership will be invaluable. Our digital services are playing an increasingly important part in the growth of CNN International and this new position ensures that they will be leveraged and incorporated into our current business appropriately.”

This new appointment comes as CNN continues to invest in content generation and ownership through an increase in newsgathering operations in both the US and internationally.

Together with the international edition of CNN.com and sites in Arabic, Spanish, Korean and Japanese, CNN International also syndicates video, live streaming and video-on-demand to a growing number of sites, including Vingo, YouTube, Daily Motion and Jalipo, while also operating CNN Mobile in more than 100 countries.

Wrenn has been with CNN since 2000, joining as a senior editor for the international edition of CNN.com; he became managing editor for CNN's operations in Europe, Middle East and Africa in 2003. In that role, Wrenn oversaw CNN's largest production center outside of the US, which was responsible for more than 10 hours of live programming each day; the CNN International features unit, coordinating newsgathering in the region; and CNN.com/international.
