Shape journalist recognised

Shape's Deputy Editor Justine Joseph has won the international Novo Nordisk Media Prize, which recognises excellence in print writing on diabetes.

The article entitled "What diabetes can do for you", appeared in the May issue of Shape and is an unusually positive look at the condition and focuses on the lifestyle changes that diabetes encourages - and the fact that a non-diabetic can learn a thing or two about health from a conscientious diabetic.

Joseph was flown to Copenhagen for the announcement of the 2005 international winner of the competition this week. She brings home EUR10 000 in prize money.

Journalists from 15 countries participated in the international competition, submitting more than 160 articles to Novo Nordisk - a world leader in diabetes care.

Shape editor Toni Younghusband says: "We're absolutely delighted with the news. Justine is a wonderful writer and a great asset to Shape. Winning an international health writing competition of this calibre further serves to entrench Shape's commitment to spreading the health and wellness message."
