Farewell bid to Chris Booysen

Well-known sales executive Chris Booysen, who was with the Caxton CTP group for almost 40 years, passed away on Tuesday 14 February 2012. He leaves his wife Nan, son Brent, daughter Shoni and grandchildren. Another senior media executive, later property developer, Ollie Bergh also passed away last week on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast after a short illness.

Booysen started with the Argus Group as a cadet at the Diamonds Field Advertiser and later moved to Johannesburg, where he was a media salesman on the Sunday Express and Rand Daily Mail. He attracted the interest of Terry Moolman and Noel Coburn, who were busy building their publishing empire. He joined them and remained working with the group for the duration of his working career.

His various positions were with Republican magazines, Afmed busses and Caxton magazines and when he moved to Somerset West he got involved with the labelling division of CTP in Parow, SA Litho.

Celebration of his life

He had the rare ability to listen and learn, which made him a very good salesman. To those who worked with him he could correct them and at the same time make them feel good.

He was not only a good salesman but loved a good party and therefore there will be a celebration of his life on Friday 2 March 2012, 3pm at the Johannesburg Country Club, Auckland Park, and on Saturday 10 March, 4pm at the Erinvale Golf Club, Somerset West.
