"The calibre of past recipients indicates a very encouraging trend as more and more women make their mark and importantly are acknowledged. Their immense talent and achievements are worthy of our attention, particularly in an industry that wields power and influence," publisher Sandra Gordon says.
"2005 is the third year the awards are taking place and the criteria stay the same - nominees will be judged on their outstanding contribution to growth and development over the past year across the commercial, government, academic and placement spheres of the media industry.
"But the format this year will be a shortlist of five finalists, with one winner - the MTN Media Woman of the Year."
Past winners can be entered again and will be assessed according to their further contribution over the past 12 months.
Since inception more than 20 outstanding women have been honoured. Amongst these are Jane Raphaely (Lifetime Achiever Award), Debora Patta, Beatrice Khubeka, Felicia Roman, Ferial Haffajee, Gwen Gill and Erna Storm. Last year The Media introduced the MTN Rising Star Award and the multi talented Unathi Nkayi of Yfm was the recipient
The closing date for nominations is Monday, 16 May 2005. All nominations should be sent to editor Kevin Bloom at . Nominations should consist of a maximum of 500 words as well as the milestones achieved by the individual over the past 12 months.
