Reinard du Plessis, who will serve as publisher for Finweek, says the focus will also be establishing the magazine as market leader. The publication used to fall under FinMedia24.

Willem Breytenbach, GM of Media24 Weekly Magazines, says, "I welcome a team of award-winning and respected writers to our department and we look forward to their continued contribution to a publication with a rich history."

Capturing isiZulu market

Latest research shows that 60% of the Bay Watch readers are from the isiZulu communities, therefore 40% of editorial coverage will now cater for this market, benefiting both advertisers and the Zululand communities.

Bay Watch Eyethu will distribute 45 000 free copies weekly, distributing door to door and to businesses in Empangeni, Ngwelezane, Nseleni, KwaDlangezwa, Mzingazi and Richards Bay. The newspaper will also be bulk dropped to other outlets in Zululand.

Consumer demand pushes increase

"We are growing our circulation to meet consumer demand for the magazine and are committed to increasing the number of copies per store as well as expanding our reach through additional outlets," says Shayne Dowling, publisher of Whisky.

Addressing the demographic profile of the readership, Whisky magazine is making a concerted effort where possible to increase its availability in the townships and emerging sectors, if and where the current outlets offer the opportunity. "We are very aware on the intrinsic power of the emerging markets and plan to reach this sector."
