Former KGB agent buys Independent's newspapers - for R11
NEWSWATCH: Two Independent News & Media newspapers have been bought by Russian billionaire and former KGB agent Alexander Lebedev for £1 (about R11), reports The Guardian, UK. Meanwhile, closer to home, the new Nando's advertisement has ruffled the feathers of at least one customer who reckons it promotes infidelity, reports IOL. Finally, it seems free news via websites is under more pressure… according to bbc.co.uk, June will see UK papers The Times and Sunday Times charging users who want to access their websites, and here in SA, the Sunday Times website is now viewable only by subscribers to the print edition, Times Live has announced.
