Call for nominations for Vodacom Women in The Media 2009
The Women in The Media Awards are broken into three categories: Rising Star, Lifetime Achievement and overall Women in The Media Award. Each category has nominal entry requirements which need to be satisfied. The overall theme, though, across the three categories, is that the woman being nominated needs to have made an impact on the media industry, across the social, political or economic spheres. As long as nominees can prove that their initiative, practice, presence or skills have had a direct and positive influence on the media industry, they are in with a chance.
Rising Star Award
The award pays tribute to a remarkable young woman under the age of 30 (or will turn 30 in 2009) who is making strides in the media arena. Candidates can be from any sector and role within the industry, be it print, broadcast or online mediums. The winner of the Rising Star Award is typically tipped to be a winner of the overall Women in The Media Award in years to come, and is a person to watch for in the future.
Lifetime Achievement Award
For the woman who has served the industry well over the span of a remarkable career and who has left, or is leaving, a legacy and heritage of achievement, Vodacom presents the Lifetime Achievement Award. The award is not necessarily presented every year. The winner of this award would have committed a large portion of her career to the media and has achieved notable results within the broader media industry.
Woman in The Media 2009
Each year one winner is chosen from a shortlist of finalists. The women are significant role models in the media industry. Nomination criteria include milestones and achievements in their sector over the last 18 months, and highlights of the nominee's career. Women from media houses, publishers, executive management, research companies, editors and journalists, non-governmental organisations and other media-related activities will be considered by The Media's Editorial Board.
If you or somebody you know of fits these criteria, then you are welcome to enter the Vodacom Women in The Media Awards.
Nominations for the Vodacom Women in The Media Awards 2009 close on 8 May 2009. To make your nomination, simply click here or contact The Media editor, Liesl Pretorius on .
