New look for Press Council
The new Press Council of South Africa yesterday, Monday, 19 November 2007, released a new logo and wording which it is requesting all print media use when referring to the press ombudsman's office.
Said press ombudsman Joe Thloloe in a press statement:
- All print media in the country are hereby requested to use the attached logo when they publicise the Ombudsman's office. We would also appreciate it if the logo and the following wording were used:
X (name of publication) subscribes to the South African Press Code that prescribes news that is truthful, accurate, fair and balanced. If we don't live up to the Code please contact the Press Ombudsman at 011 788 4837 or 011 788 4829.
Our website and a booklet with the Code, the Complaints Procedures and the Press Council's Constitution will be launched at month end next week.
We would appreciate it if the information about the Ombudsman and the Code stood out in your publication, rather than the current practice of listing the ombudsman's telephone number with that of the numbers of the publication's various departments.
If your graphics departments need the specifications on the colours and the fonts, please ask them to contact us.
