Strategic management changes for Media24

The new chairman of the board of Media24 is Prof Jakes Gerwel, who has served on the board for six years and is chairman of Welkom Yizani Investments, Media24's newly-established black shareholder company, the media group announced recently. He replaces Ton Vosloo, who is stepping down after a 22-year term.

Vosloo will continue to serve on the board and remain the chairman of the Naspers Group and MIH.

Media24 also announced that Jan Malherbe, Media24 Newspapers CEO and executive director of the company for the past nine years, has decided to retire from Media24 after 23 years' service.

Malherbe will hold his current position until 31 March 2007. In the meantime, Media24 will initiate a recruitment process to find a suitable successor.
