Corporate publications honoured by SA Publication Forum
Sanlam staff newspaper Sandaba has come tops and Dr Elain Vlok, head of communications at Clover, has been named Editor of the Year at the SA Publication Forum's 2006 corporate publication competition. The awards function was held in Johannesburg on Tuesday, 22 August 2006, coinciding with the forum's third annual conference.
Other companies that excelled included New Media, which won best external magazine for its title Mercedes and the best publication that appears only once a year with Front Cover.
Words'Worth Publishing won best achievement in writing and best external newsletter for its title Small Capital. Standard Bank won both the best internal magazine (The Standard) and best DVD newsletter (Blue Wave) categories.
Another company that also proved that it is serious about its communication function was Santam whose Santam Focus won in the category best external magazine with a small budget and its staff newspaper SP, which won best achievement in design.
Old Mutual's That's a Wr@p won best electronic newsletter, Deloitte South Africa won best once-off publication and Metropolitan won the award for best annual report.
The African Motion Picture Academy produced six finalists in the corporate DVD section and received top honours for the Toyota Corporate DVD. Another company that entered several titles was Momentum, which won the best internal newsletter category with its publication Moment.
This year, close on 120 publications were entered and the judges felt that the standard was higher that ever.
