Explore the future of advertising
Tony Koenderman's annual Brainstorm Conference this year is entitled 'Back to the Future' offering five speakers and a two-hour interactive session, giving delegates the opportunity to debate the issues with a panel of top experts.
Speakers
- Mike Abel, now head of M&CSaatchi Abel of SA will describe the new media landscape and how to prosper from it
- Julian Ribeiro, MD of Ogilvy Johannesburg, will discuss the necessity to reinvent the ad agency to cope with the changes
- Gavin Heron, who has left TBWA Hunt Lascaris and the whole profession, which he considers to be in crisis, unable to adapt appropriately to the new needs of the integrated, digital marketplace. He will have a few suggestions on how to avert the looming disaster
- Derek Carstens, publicity chief of the World Cup local organising committee will be re-examining the mystery of the World Cup and the true value of the World Cup legacy for South Africa
- Paul Bannister, a consultant who was acting chief executive of the International Marketing Council in the run-up to the Cup, will discuss "How the World Cup built a nation -- and how politicians could destroy it."
Panel debate
The debate will occupy the final session. On the panel will be most of the speakers, plus a couple of additional experts. It will be an interactive session, giving the audience to debate the major issues of the advertising business.
- Do ad agencies need a different kind of creative skill?
- What will happen to traditional media?
- What is the best business model for new media publishing?
- How do you monetize the medium?
- Why is integration back in fashion?
The conference will be held at Southern Sun Grayston (formerly Holiday Inn Crown Court), corner Grayston Drive and Rivonia Road, Johannesburg from 9am on 21 October 2010. Email Terry Barker at ten.asmoklet@mrotsniarbda for bookings.
