Win R50 000 with 15 seconds of creativity

To celebrate its new zesty taste sensations called ‘Collisions', Doritos is inviting up-and-coming film and video students and anyone else who has a flair for advertising and design to complete an ad that aptly illustrates this “half-and-half” burst of flavour. The best student entry in each category will be entered into the Loeries Student Award categories for TV and cinema, and motion graphic design.

However, even those who are not studying film and video have a chance to have their creative expression rewarded: the best entry by a non-student in each of the categories will also be entered into the Loeries, in the non-broadcast video category.

Choice of four

Entrants have a choice of four 15-second themed Doritos Collisions ad intros from which to choose: “The House Party”, ”Peeping Tina”, “Double Vision” and an “Anything Goes” generic option, which can be viewed and downloaded on the website. The closing date for video entries is 24 May 2010.

Entrants select the option that they wish to complete and produce an innovative 15-second ending that is punchy, clever and sums up the fun and funky dual nature of Doritos Collisions. It can be filmed or animated - using 3D video effects or stock animation.

Entrants upload the entry to the website and then set about making use of all the social media tools at their disposal to promote the video clip.

Public prizes

Members of the public who register on the website will have the opportunity to rate the entries, share them and comment on them and potentially get their share of R20 000 in the daily draws. From 19 April to 24 May, a daily random draw will take place, with each day's winner receiving R500. Bonus draws will take place every Friday from 23 April to 21 May.

Five judges drawn from the ranks of television commercial directors and marketing experts will assess the video entries in each category, with pre-judging taking place from 25 to 28 May and final judging of the semi-finalists on 31 May. The four winners, who will be announced on 4 June, will each receive R50 000 in cash.
