General | Overall, we felt that the standard of work submitted for Radio and TV was very strong this month. The concepts were fresh, the writing was good and the production was of a particularly high quality. Another area where the standard was fairly high was in Experiential, although there was a lot of debate about the credibility of some of the pieces submitted, which in my opinion is a good thing. It seems that judges are becoming weary of the fancy AVs that are often used to up-sell work. The standard in the Print categories was very low this month and there was a feeling, especially in the Newspaper category, that as agencies, we are not exploring the mediums and coming up with new and novel ideas. A lot of the work that was submitted in Newspaper could've easily been entered into Magazine and this was of concern to us. However, having said that, the winners in these categories were deserving and their work truly stood out. Lastly, a special mention must go to Lowe Bull this month as they featured in almost every category. Thanks to all the judges. Onwards and upwards. Xolisa |
