Sasol again accelerates ahead
The runner-up was IST Group, with Johnnic Holdings in third place.
Besides Sasol, IST and Johnnic Holdings, the monthly winners in this year's competition, were Dorbyl, Iscor, Ellerine Holdings, Nampak, Astral Foods, Anglo Platinum and Sanlam.
Prof Herman de Jager, head of the auditing department at the University of Pretoria, headed the judging panel. Every month a monthly winner was nominated, out of which the overall winner was chosen.
Advertisements that in appeared Sake, Business Day and Business Report were considered.
The winning companies were honoured at a lunch at Mediapark in Auckland Park yesterday, where JSE Securities Exchange CEO Russell Loubser delivered the keynote address.
According to De Jager, several aspects of reporting improved markedly since the inception of the competition in October 1999.
For instance, more companies now point out that their financial statements have been drawn up according to generally accepted accounting practice (GAAP).
The winners received a total of R250 000 free advertising space.
