Your mission should you choose to accept it ... Part Four (Final)

I would've liked to finish this column saying that the industry has changed their thinking and are now searching for that talent out there, giving everyone that has potential an opportunity in a company BUT I can't say that.

Even though I did get many encouraging e-mails and comments during the columns, like all things in democracy the majority have the say and tomorrow is not going to open a million and one opportunities for all media students and other talented individuals.

However even though the majority have the say, they don't have the power. There weren't a thousand people that discovered the wheel at the same time. There was probably only one person in the beginning and look at how that one person created an industry and something that other industries take for granted. Don't ever think you don't have the power to make something happen.

If you are a student or a person hunting for a break in a market somewhere, keep at it but don't do things by the book, create your own. If you looking for something in business that isn't there, do what I've always done - create it! And if you do come across those wonderful people that do want to help you (yes, there are those people in this industry - you just have to find them)... don't abuse them!

Through my work in the various industries, advertising, marketing and entertainment, I will always keep an eye out for new opportunities and help those where possible to get ahead. I hope everyone reading this will do the same or better and always assist those seeking to make it. Even a little thing like five minutes of your time for advice can do a lot for someones morale.

In the next few weeks or months a colleague and I will be trying to set-up a campaign that will promote media talent and hopefully open doors for those that take part. Keep an eye on the media for more info, www.bizcommunity.com and www.seaninggs.co.za.

Thank you to all of those who contributed their comments, thoughts, experiences and knowledge. I have one last thing to ask before I finish - can anyone from Red and Yellow or AAA that have or are doing "Media Strategy" please contact me at , I have someone that needs your assistance.

I hope these columns helped you in some way or another, or at least inspired you to do more, go further, push the limits and not to be a sheep!

Till next time...
