Emerging Creatives

The Design Indaba prides itself on the development and diverse support of the Creative industry in South Africa. A vital element of this support is the identification and growth of Emerging Creatives in a multitude of vibrant sectors, including visual art, textiles, ceramics, photography, décor, multimedia, fashion, graphic design and jewellery.

Emerging Creatives include final-year students in the creative faculty of a South African tertiary institution or a young designer in the industry establishing their own design service/business.

We have selected the Top 48 Emerging Creatives across various regions and from diverse backgrounds. To view their exceptional work, do visit the Design Indaba Expo which will be held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from Friday 24 February - Sunday 26 February, doors open at 10am.

We are extremely proud to announce that the Emerging Creatives Programme is being sponsored by Transnet Foundation for the second year in a row!

Yet more exciting news is the Small Business Development Workshop!

At this year's Design Indaba Expo, Justin Rhodes from "what if the world..." is facilitating a workshop titled Enterprise Thru Creativity for forty eight of South Africa's brightest emerging creatives and young designers. The talk will focus primarily on the process of setting up a small business, including company/domain registration, pricing, database management, accounting, and financial support organisations. Enterprise Thru Creativity will also highlight common sense approaches for young creative entrepreneurs, and steps to becoming not just a business owner but a community leader. Each participant will receive a pocket manual containing relevant insights, helpful contact information, and guidelines for making a business successful and sustainable.

The aim of this workshop is to develop emerging South African creatives into not only inspirational designers, but also into savvy and successful business owners & community leaders for future generations.
"what if the world..." believes strongly in this initiative, and would like to develop this workshop further. If you are interested in hosting this talk, or would like more information please contact:
