Senior Designer

Location: Cape Town, Southern Suburbs
Work model: Hybrid (3 days in-office, 2 days from home). 
Salary: R50 000 - R70 000 CTC (depending on level of experience)

About our client:
A global brand activation and retail marketing agency is looking for a Senior Designer for its Cape Town studio. You'll design retail work for the agency's UK accounts, mostly for a world-famous sportswear brand, taking ideas from concept to final delivery. It's a role for someone with great craft, strong ideas and a feel for culture, who wants to raise the bar and help other designers do the same.

What the job involves:

• Developing original design concepts from briefs, brand guidelines and audience insight
• Creating retail design and concepts for activations and experiential work
• Leading projects from concept through to artwork and final delivery across retail, campaign, packaging and digital
• Presenting your thinking clearly and working with feedback from colleagues and clients
• Delivering to brief, budget and deadline
• Keeping craft, consistency and accuracy high, including checking artwork and preparing production files
• Supporting and mentoring designers, and bringing fresh thinking on trends, tools and techniques

What you need to be considered:

• 5+ years' design experience, ideally in a creative agency or similar fast-paced environment
• Strong layout, typography and modern design craft
• Confident Adobe Creative Cloud skills and a good grasp of production requirements
• Solid project management: you can balance priorities, stay on top of detail and hit deadlines
• Clear communication and presentation skills, with a collaborative, proactive approach
• Excellent attention to detail, which means no typos in your CV or portfolio!
• A portfolio link must be included in your CV. No portfolio, no response. We want to see retail and in-store design, activation or experiential concepts, campaign and brand work, and examples that show your concept development and craft from idea to final artwork

Bonus points if you:

• Have your finger on the pulse of music, fashion and lifestyle culture
• Have worked on sportswear, fashion or lifestyle brands
• Have designed for international or UK clients
• Have experience with packaging or large-format retail
