Test cricket demands more than just talent. Over five days, players are pushed to their physical and mental limits as they dig deep under pressure. It takes grit, resilience, consistency and a relentless commitment to high performance. Above all, Test cricket takes hard work.
These are the qualities that have defined the longest format of the game for generations. They're also the qualities Jonsson Workwear sees in the hardworking people it proudly serves every day.
As the front-of-shirt sponsor of the reigning World Test Champions, the Proteas, Jonsson Workwear is bringing its long-standing celebration of hard work to the cricket field with its new Hardest Working Player Award.
Presented after each Test match in the series, the award recognises the player from either side who best reflects the qualities that define success in Test cricket.
Not necessarily the top scorer or the match-winner, but the one who gives their all: the bowler who kept charging in, the batter who refused to give up their wicket, the fielder who put their body on the line in the toughest positions. This award celebrates the player who exemplifies the effort and perseverance that success in Test cricket demands.
The inaugural Jonsson Workwear Hardest Working Player Award was presented to Australia’s Matt Renshaw for his standout performance in the first Test between South Africa and Australia at Kingsmead. Returning to Test cricket after three years away, Matt Renshaw backed up his first innings 190 with a valuable 89 in the second, helping Australia declare at 314/6.
The action now moves to Gqeberha for the second Test, where the battle between South Africa and Australia continues. Jonsson Workwear will once again spotlight the player who shows what grit and sheer determination looks like in cricket's ultimate test.
