Nelson Mandela Football/Netball and Fun Walk Tournament 2017

On November 10, 2009, the UN member states unanimously adopted Nelson Mandela international day, an annual international day of activism set for July 18. Mandela's birthday encourages individuals to live Mandela's legacy and make a difference by committing themselves to at least 67 minutes of community work. The 67 minutes, according to the UN and the organisers, represent every year that Mandela spent in service to humanity before his retirement from public life. The day and its international recognition is a testament not only to the legacy of Mandela but also highlights the way he is seen by the global community. Nelson Mandela was quite often referred to, and revered, as a saint and saviour.
