New beneficiary for Shape magazine

Shape magazine has selected the Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT) as its Care for the Carers beneficiary for 2008.

The EWT is dedicated to conserving threatened species and ecosystems in Southern Africa to benefit all people.

Shape's Care for the Carers campaign works to raise awareness of and generate funds and pampering treats for people in caring professions.

Throughout this year, Shape readers and advertisers will be invited to respond to the EWT's wish list which includes grocery vouchers, bicycles, sleeping bags, ground covers, hiking boots, camping gear and, of course, pampering treats and cash donations.

Says Toni Younghusband, editor of Shape: "Given the importance of the environment in assuring our children's future, the Shape team believes the 75 men and women of the EWT deserve our support. The work that they do - in rural and urban areas through South Africa - ensures that the animals and eco-systems that make our planet the magnificent place that it is will survive for future generations to enjoy."

Now in its sixth year, Shape's Care for the Carers campaign has assisted carers from The Red Cross Childrens Hospital, the Child Protection Unit, Children of the Dawn - a non-profit organisation caring for children orphaned by Aids - The Association for the Physically Disabled and the Peoples Dispensary For Sick Animals.
