Editorial Intern

Highbury Media (Pty) Ltd T/A Habari Media is a media powerhouse whose world-class titles connect brands to targeted audiences.
We are seeking editorial interns based in Cape Town, currently unemployed, and looking to gain workplace experience to join our dynamic editorial teams across the following publications:

• Woman and Home
• Food and Home
• Garden and Home

The role focuses primarily on digital content but may also involve work across print platforms depending on the publication. 

Role overview 

Key responsibilities

• Generate story ideas 
• Write and/or assist with articles across relevant content pillars
• Assist with fact-checking and general editorial support
• Support editors with day-to-day editorial tasks
• Stay up to date with current affairs and industry trends
• Assist with social media content creation and management
• Attend events when required and produce related content
• Assist with administrative and content scheduling tasks where relevant

 Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in English, Journalism, Media Studies, or related field
• Strong writing, spelling, grammar, and copy-editing skills
• Proficiency in Mac operating systems (advantageous)
• Familiarity with WordPress CMS (advantageous)
• Strong organisational skills and ability to work under deadline pressure
• Willingness to work overtime when required
• Familiarity with major social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, TikTok; Pinterest/LinkedIn)
